KubusThese awesome angular dwellings were designed by modern architect Piet Blom. Blom’s idea was to design a kind of village within a big city, a safe oasis where various functions could come to fruition. The result is a terrace of lop-sided Lego shapes. Learn all about them at their very own show house museum the Kijk Kubus. |

Boijmans Van BeuningenExperience art from Rembrandt to Warhol - This museum houses a magnificent collection of classical and contemporary art with works by Monet, Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Picasso to name a few. The museum also houses arts and crafts dating back to the fourteenth century as well as modern design. Large exhibitions are held frequently which guarantee a great deal of international interest and are well worth a visit. |

Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi)The NAi owns one of the largest architectural collections in the world. The permanent drawings exhibition Simply Architecture reveals this wealth with drawings, scale models and photos. The highlight of the collection is Huis Sonneveld: a hyper modern house dating back to 1922. |

Maritime Museum RotterdamThe Maritime Museum Rotterdam, which is located in the Maritime district is among the top maritime museums in the world. The permanent exhibition Main Port Live provides visitors with a sensational experience of the rhythm of the port. Showpiece of the museum is the nineteenth century warship Buffel, which was recently fully restored. |

Historic Museum Het SchielandhuisThe Rotterdam of the past is brought back to life here, in rooms decorated in true historical style, from the eighteenth century to the present day. |

The Natural History MuseumThe Natural History Museum, next to Kunsthal Rotterdam, presents temporary exhibitions on nature in the broadest sense of the word. In the glass extension, the fifteen metre long skeleton of a sperm whale is displayed in all its glory. |

Blijdrop ZooRotterdam's greatest attraction is Blijdorp Zoo, with approximately 1.5 million visitors every year. The Oceanium is a world tour pas coastal regions and through oceans, the spectacular highlight being the glass shark tunnel where sharks swim right past you. |
ShoppingRotterdam is the city with the youngest population in the Netherlands. So it's hardly surprising that there are lots of trendsetting stores in an around the centre. On Tuesday, Friday afternoon and Saturday, a large market is held in Binnenrotte, the biggest market square in the Netherlands. An authentic Rotterdam atmosphere and a wide range of goods make a visit to the market defnitely worthwhile. |

Ride a BikeDo as the Dutch do, hire a bike and take a cycling trip around Rotterdam. Many places do bike hire, and some can even give you guided tours! Just let us know if you want us to organise this for your group... |
Feyenoord StadiumThe Feijenoord Stadium, better known by its nickname de Kuip (the Tub) is home to Rotterdam’s football team, the intense rivals of Ajax, Feyernoord. So loved is “the Tub”, that tradition decrees that when driving over the Van Brienenoordbrug bridge, every Feyenoord supporter always looks aside to have a look at the stadium. Recent traffic accident statistics show this is a tradition still being maintained! |
NightlifeRotterdam has many great hangouts... The city's club scene is renowned and is without doubt the clubbing capital of Holland. The quality its nightlife is always of a high standard. The Rotterdam Street Parade in August sees the whole city embrace its clubbing heritage in a multi-coloured, loud and proud convoy of cool sound clashes. Whisper it softly, but the most ardent Amsterdammers visit Rotterdam for the best nights out! So you are going to love it... |
Baja Beach ClubThe Baja Beach Club represents entertainment in a tropical setting with an exciting atmosphere. The entryway is made from a 3.5-meter beach ball and the music is played from a speedboat. Tanned, muscular males and shapely females in beachwear serve behind the bar while dancers groove to laid-back rhythms from live bands and DJs. |
WattThis really is a club with a difference - Watt has a new type of dance floor that harvests the energy generated by jumps and gyrations and transforms it into electricity! Watt partly powers itself: The better the music, the more people dance, the more electricity comes out of the floor. Genius! |
Food + Drink (our teams best picks)Rotterdam is stuffed with bars and pubs. The main areas to find a bar or pub are the Stadhuisplein, Westelijk handelsterrein and the Oude haven. You'll receive a genuinely warm welcome and wonder why other cities can't be this friendly. |
RaffaelloAn Italian restaurant with good pizza's and pasta's for a very reasonable price. Naturally, a lot of students gleefully feed here. It's located on the first floor of a busy shopping street in the middle of the center. |
LookThis is a GARLIC restaurant in the West of Rotterdam. Garlic in capital letters because you have probably never eaten so much garlic as you would in this restaurant. You can even order garlic ice cream for dessert... Don't forget to plan this visit carefully, if you are taking a train the next day and you want the seats around you empty, look no further! Not recommended for vampires and hopeful singles. |
BoudoirA not so crowded bar-restaurant, which offers pasta, burgers and Turkish kebabs in addition to some very fairly-priced cocktail deals. The live DJ attracts a really cool young crowd... (perfect for your group then!) |
De BallententThis is an eatery where you should head to sample the real "Rotterdam" experience - filled to the rafters with locals, it has a real harbour atmosphere and a budget-conscious approach to dining. Try the "gehaktbal" after which the place is named. It's great for lunch! |
Gauchos- an Outgoing fave!Gauchos is a fantastic example of the Argentinean restaurants and bodegas which Rotterdam boasts a-plenty. The meat is marvellous, but try the huge garlic king prawns and empanadas (traditional pasties with a savoury vegetarian content). |
