Ski & BoardingForget the slightly dodgy buildings: the main reason to go to Les Menuires is the snow-sure guarantee this confident resort offers, with pistes topping out at 2850m and a comprehensive snowmaking system. Then there is the terrain; the Menuires / Saint Martin ski area which is made up of 3 complementary sectors.
More Info
The Mont de la Chambre sector: Situated directly above The Menuires, it offers numerous ski lifts and long slopes accessible to everyone. This sector rejoins the huge area of Saint Martin and gives access to the slopes of Val Thorens and The 3 Vallies. The Grangerais and Saint Martin sector: It offers huge spaces on the West slopes of the Vallie des Belleville, with a run right down to the heart of the welcoming village of Saint Martin. It also gives access to the 3 Vallies and to the resort and slopes of Meribel. The Masse sector: Very well oriented it offers an exceptional quality of snow and an incomparable panoramic view from the top. From this sector, one can join all the off-piste routes; the Vallon du Lou, the Yvoses and the Encombres. Close |
BeginnerLook forward to around 100 runs, which by the end of the week, you should be capable of navigating confidently! Les Menuires has done more than most European resorts to make a special effort for adult beginners, following the North American model of creating a 'beginners village'.
More Info
The "beginners village" is an enclosed area of around 5000 square metres near the Preyerand area especially reserved for new skiers and designed to suit their needs. Beginners also have 6 free ski lifts around the resort alone and a special (very low cost) beginners pass giving access to a reduced circuit of 11 key lifts throughout Les Menuires. Sorted! Close |
IntermediateA choice of over 150 suitable runs! With access to Trois Vallees, Les Menuires has to be the choice of resort for intermediates. It offers such a vast choice of appropriate skiing, from the easier cruising runs to some which are more challenging but still within the scope of intermediates.
More Info
Adjacent to 1850 are the Loze and Chenus sectors which not only have great views but also some great runs. Above 1850 Les Pyramides and Grande Bosses are both blues which are easy cruising runs for emerging intermediates whilst Combe de Saulire and Creux are a little more challenging. Les Menuires also provides that next step of slightly more challenging intermediate slopes. There is a wide choice of some more difficult red runs which have wide, quiet pistes making them ideal for the more adventurous intermediates in your group. Close |
AdvancedAs well as the wide cruising skiing there is some very challenging skiing for advanced skiers & boarders in Les Menuire.
More Info
The Outgoing pick of the pistes for Advanced skiers/boarders: Jean Blanc: Starts in Val Thorens at La Loze and ends in. It is approximately 3 km long on a north facing slope another challenging run for advanced skiers. Jockey: this run also starts in Val Thorens at La Loze and ends in . The run is north facing through the trees. It and usually nice and quiet. La Chanrossa: this run drops down from the top of Chanrossa which is above Val Thorens 1650. It changes direction half way down. La M: this piste is at the summit of Verdons and is steep and varied. The snow can vary from mogul fields to ice so be warned. L'Epaule De La Vizelle: this run also starts at the summit of Verdons but unlike M, is never groomed and so provides a greater degree of difficulty for the most advanced skier. Advanced skiers will also love the big moguls and access to the Maurienne Valley for off-piste fun. Close |
Freestyle & SnowboardingHigh-mountain hangout and crossroads of the freestyle universe Installed in the Plateau sector, this 88000 m2 area has 5 zones (beginners, intermediates, experts, boardercross and Jump Air). There are different fun elements: whoops, wall ride, a table top, hand rails. |
GlacierThe highest skiable peaks are Pointe du Bouchet (3220m) and Cime de Caron (3200m), with one of the biggest cable cars in the world with a capacity of 150+1 passengers. Many of its slopes face north/north-west, providing for good snow conditions. This means that the slopes are not as sunny, so the resort tends to attract a crowd more interested in skiing than "terracing". However, the resort itself faces south, and many people enjoy sitting outside in the sunshine when they have finished skiing. |
Apres SkiWe know that a tailored après ski is a fundamental part of your group holiday (indeed for some the ‘après’ is as important as the ‘ski’!) and so we’ll work with you to create the ideal party programme for your group – making the most of Les Menuires – an often overlooked gem of a resort which isn't internationally renowned for its evening entertainment, but there's more than ample to suit all but the most hardcore party animal. La MoussePopular internet café located in Croisette with a pool table and more choice of beer than the rest of the Alps. Top tip: address your emails, update your Facebook and Twitter accounts prior to sampling the ales – or you’ll awake the next morning having signed your modest bank account details to Mr. Stanley Churchill of Nigeria, who mailed you concerning an unmissable business investment opportunity in addition to ordering enough Viagra to keep Russell Brand going for years. Le New PopAnother late night haunt in the Croisette whose name rather contradicts the amount of Robbie Williams’s records they play. But what the hell, you’re on holiday and it’s just turned 1.30, all together now, “ …and through it all she offers me protection…“ Le LeebertyThis French discotheque is located in Reberty. Although the resident DJ’s aren’t going to trouble Krafty Kuts, they do have an uncanny knack of raiding the roof on a regular basis – no doubt assisted by the rarified air you’ll breathe at this altitude. Top tip: Get there early to catch the surf DVD’s! La Grotte du Yeti ( aka The Yeti) Two terrific levels of noise and nonsense! Kick start your revelry on the top floor with a chilled bite to eat, prior to descending down stairs to hear which visiting DJ is rocking the dance floor. Loud, lively and more gregarious than a soppy puppy; the Yeti is an abominable assault on your senses! |
