MAYRHOFEN
One of Outgoing's favourite ski and board destinations which really does have it all. The accommodation is centrally located, slap bang in the middle of town with the bars in close proximity and considerably less painful on the pocket than many French resorts. The apres schedule at Mayrhofen is legendary with the array of bars and clubs on offer- Austrian apres ski is the most raucous anywhere in Europe; making Mayrhofen the perfect all-rounder for your Uni ski and snowboard club. If you're going to ski Austria, ski Mayrhofen, and ski it with Outgoing.

Must SkiAhorn AbfhartThe 5.5 km run which starts at the top of the Ahorn and twists and turns its way through blue and red pistes prior to snaking it's way through a steep-sided forest, before finally emerging 1300m below at valley level! Nice |

Must DoTobogganingUnlike us, the Austrians don't stop sledging when their childhood ends. Tobogganing at night, with a gluwein inside you and your mates by your side is an essential Austrian apres ski experience. Wahnsin!!! |

Skiing & BoardingA decade of re-investment has resulted in Mayrhofen gradually being acknowledged as one of the best resorts in the world - offering ski runs for every ability from beginner through to advanced this coupled with fantastic infrastructure makes the resort a pleasure to ski. Recent additions to the pisted area (which increased by a whopping 49%), has led to Mayrhofen being awarded "Europe’s most improved resort".

Doubts over its relatively low altitude are countered by an early-and-late season snow record second to none, huge expenditure on snow making technolog and probably the best maintained pistes you’ll ever grace - an often overlooked factor when it comes to choosing where to ski, not by us though! BeginnerMayrhofen enjoys an excellent reputation for its English speaking ski & board tuition. The nursery slopes at the top of the Penken and Ahorn mountains are snow sure and have a good variety of gentle slopes – ideal for learning to ski or board; and what’s more, all (except one), have comfy modern chairs, as opposed to the beginners worst enemy: the T-bar! |
IntermediateThe Ziller valley is an intermediates paradise. After exploring the many long W-I- D-E open blue and red runs of the Penken, head over to Lanarsbach for some south-facing sunshine carving. Your Zillertal 3000 pass also gives you access to the varied terrain of Zell am Ziller, Hippach, Kaltenbach, Fugen and Gerlos; all of which yield some varied challenges for all experienced sliders. |
AdvancedExplore some challenging valley descents, including steep mogul area’s in Mayrhofen. Before catching the free bus to the Tux glacier, Austria’s highest lifted point and sheer heaven for confident skiers & boarders: from here you are literally at the geographical centre of Europe and can gaze over three countries: Austria, German and in the next valley, Italy! |
Freestyle & SnowboardingMayrhofen has developed itself in the past years from an insider tip to a paradise for snowboarders and free skiers and is one of the top meeting spots in the Alps, in fact many pro-riders are based here.

For all you Snowboarders and freestyle skiers, the award-winning Vans Park offers the best option. Because of the varying and quality jumps, it stands out from all other Austrian terrain parks. A professional park shaper daily tweaks the park to perfection, presenting perfect conditions for courage, carnage and craziness - moreover it is the only park with its own 4 seater chair lift which is the exact same length as the park itself. In short, something to write home about. You can even stay overnight on the mountain nearby at Christians boarder-friendly bar, The Grillalm, prior to strapping on your bindings after breakfast and having the whole mountain to yourselves! (Just ask one of the Outgoing reps). Close |
GlacierQuite literally the coolest thing about the Zillertal area is the mighty Tux glacier - Austria's highest lifted point at a dizzying 3,286m which is spectacularly reached by the highest double chairlift in the world! The glacier is a short bus ride away from Mayrhofen - offering fantastic piste and off-piste action all year round, as well as Europe’s highest half-pipe

The views over Italy, Germany and Austria are awesome and early April is the best time to visit this majestic mountain, perfect snow in abundance, yet not too cold. Each day at the glacier comes with a bronzed tan guarantee! 90-230km of perfectly groomed ski runs for all levels and abilities: skiing, carving, snowboarding, backcountry skiing. Don’t miss the ultimate Glacier Ski Trail boasting the region’s longest top-to-bottom ski trail - 12km long, 1,750m difference in altitude! Close |
Apres SkiWe know that a tailored après ski is a fundamental part of your group holiday (indeed for some the ‘après’ is as important as the ‘ski’!) and so we’ll work with you to create the ideal party programme for your group – making the most of Mayrhofen. With a (definitely not tee) total of 43 restaurants and 18 bars, you will never be short of options for refuelling - and that's not even including the facilities on the mountain! The great thing about Mayrhofen is that you will not find any of the extortionate food and drinks prices so common to many European resorts. Our Favourite Bars and Nightclubs:

The Ice Bar
You can’t miss the Ice Bar. No one can. In fact if they can’t see it from the Moon, they’ll almost certainly be able to hear it! Daily dose of feel-good euro stomping courtesy of local legend DJ Stocky, who leads a whole generation of Dutch people to their doom, accompanied only by his lethal library of party tunes and an ocean of Grolsch. Until you’ve après skied in the Ice Bar…you haven’t après skied! ArenaState-of-the-art sound and lighting and some high profile live shows make this the Numero Uno nightspot in town. Centrally located, (beneath Hotel Strass) meaning you don’t have to get into a taxi at the end of the night, which is just as well, they probably wouldn’t take you in the state you'll be in! SchlusselYour authentic Austro Disco: fairy lights and boom bang a bang in a converted barn. No air conditioning, but you won’t give a damn as you’ll have stopped breathing long before you leave! Sports BarBest place in town between the hours of 9pm and midnight; live music from great players, affordable drinks and a sound system bought from the Millennium Dome, no less! Mo'sAmerican eaterie at the crossroads famous for its steaks and chicken wings. Superb salads. Rockstar PalaceWith it's legendary €2 parties on Wednesdays, there is nowhere else you should be. €2 for the majority of drinks! Even on other nights the drinks are well priced, this place is rocking all the time and the Dutch landlady Veerle is always welcoming, you'll end up calling this place home! Funky'sSituated above Rockstar Palace, this place offers great food and a really cool atmosphere with it's minimalistic decor. Try their pizzas, they're pretty special.... Close |
Bespoke Apres & Events |
DJ's & BandsOne of the things that we do really well is throw a party in the mountains (Snowbombing & Winter Break are prime examples). Talk to us about what your group is after as we have strong relationships with many major acts and agencies. So whether its a live band, DJ or club night your group are after - its not a problem. We can arrange this as either an extra element to your holiday (resort and numbers dependant) or as a promotional night in your city.

Valley RallyThe Valley Rally is no doubt a student ski institution, one of the best days of your tour and one of the funniest days on the slopes for your group. Outgoing has run countless Valley Rallies over the years - so be prepared for lots of stupidity, debauchery and a range of ridiculous challenges at the checkpoints all around the mountain! Fancy dress is essential...
|
Group Race DayFor some universities racing is a very important aspect, while for others it is more about having a laugh... Whatever your motivations Outgoing can organise this for you... It will always be with run professionally with experienced staff (traditionally we do this in conjunction with the resort ski school & Club de Sport).
|
Backcountry PartyBackcountry parties have long been enjoyed by seasonaires and pro-riders, we say why should they have all the fun? Outgoing have pioneered unique evenings out of resort, which are often only accessible by torch lit trek or minibus, to traditional mountain huts in areas of outstanding natural beauty and where local customs are followed. These include imbibing mystical schnapps, local yodelers and taking part in cow milking contest! The descent is usually on toboggans; an adrenalized climax to what is a very very special and unique evening. |
Your Group PackagesOutgoing go further to ensure that every aspect of your trip is carefully planned & organised. We meet every committee in person to gain a comprehensive understanding of what you & your group require - we will then come back to you with a comprehensive proposal with a number of resorts and packages that suit your needs. Back Country Party
A twist on “Meal on the Mountain”! Take a trip over to Ginsling via a mountain tunnel, disembark the coach and light your frakker (traditional candle) as you begin an ascent up a mountain trail. You are met halfway by an Austrian fellow in lederhosen playing an accordion and a table full of shots of schnapps. Once revitalised continue to the top where you will find a 200 year old alm (chalet) in a fairytale setting. Take a seat by the fire with a steaming Gluhwein. The evening ahead consists of partaking in some traditional music making, sampling some Tyrolean cuisine before getting involved in the infamous tradition of “Cow Milking”. All of this is finished off with a speedy trip back down the path you came up via racing rodel sleds. A truly magical experience! |
