Outgoing > Tignes
Tignes
The appeal of Tignes is simple: good snow spread over a wide area of varied terrain. Outgoing presents a modern, innovative resort perched a top a natural lake at 2100m surrounded by four traditional holiday villages. The apres ski is superb and it's amongst the most snowsure of all French resorts. It's higher, more convenient and surrounded by better intermediate terrain...basically it's ideal for university ski and snowboard party people!

Must SkiCol du PaletWe recommend the often overlooked Col du Palet - It's also where you'll find Le S.P.O.T, a dedicated area where intermediates and advanced skiers can get to grips with off-piste technique, with zones for experts, less confident skiers and freestylers. |

Skiing & BoardingOverall Tignes has a phenomenal snow record and is generally regarded as one of the worlds biggest and best ski areas. Tignes is linked to Val D'Isere in the Espace Killy region providing a great opportunity for the more advanced to spend days skiing and riding in another resort.
More Info
The lift systems are modern and very efficient and the resort offers a great snow park with tables, hips, spines, handrails and a 200m half pipe. Even without counting the vast Espace Killy shared ski area; Tignes has nearly 100 miles of local runs, some of the finest and most easily accessible freeriding terrain in Europe, plus a glacier to provide year-round skiing. BeginnerTignes has gone to great lengths to make its ski area accessible to guests of all skiing abilities. There are special zones where strict speed limits are enforced to make beginners feel comfortable. Rosset and Lavachet have a range of gentler slopes as well as Le Bolin in Val Claret. Les Brévières, Pitôts is the closest beginner area to the village, offering a number of gentle green runs. |
IntermediateIntermediates will find Tignes a paradise! With 38 blue runs and 17 red runs to explore, using many efficient lifts, intermediates will have plenty to crack on with. The run from the top of the Grande Motte is an exceptional run for intermediates, providing a huge wide open space at a tricky gradient.
More Info
If the snow is good (and it usually is!), the considerably long black run down to Brévières (locals call it Sache) will reward you: it gives strong intermediate skiers the chance to improve balance, technique and stamina. At the end there is a real sense of achievement ( …and maybe more importantly a restaurant, a bar and lifts back to Tignes-Le-Lac!). All of the runs are well marked and the chances of unintentionally veering off-piste are minimal, making this an ideal day’s outing. Close |
AdvancedThe abundance of off-piste skiing, including some excellent off piste itineraries, makes Tignes a favourite with good skiers: as well as a handful of black slopes to choose from, advanced skii’ers and boarders will be pleasantly surprised with the off piste possibilities Tignes has to offer. |
Freestyle & SnowboardThe Col de Ves area of Tignes offers boarders and freeriders back country skiing, a boardercross, and an avalanche training section. The area is aptly nicknamed “SPOT” (Skiing the Powder Of Tignes). The Col de Ves run is considered off-piste, (as it isn’t groomed), however there are piste patrols and it is monitored on cameras. |
GlacierThe Grande Motte Glacier offers some of the best skiing in the Espace Killy region. Between altitudes of 3,000 and 3,456 metres, this is one of Europe’s highest glaciers opening to customers as early as September. This is as snow sure as it gets and more spectacular than a Chinese Olympic Opening ceremony viewed through 3-D glasses. |
Apres SkiA decade of experience tells us that a personally sculpted après ski is a fundamental part of your group holiday and we’ll work with you to create the ideal party programme. Tignes boasts over 50 bars and clubs and upholds its reputation for having one of the craziest après ski scenes in the French Alps. In addition to this there is lots of different restaurants plus a cinema and bowling alley for those that are looking for a quieter week! Our favourite Bars and Nightclubs:

Jack’s ClubMore shots than a Clint Eastwood Box Set. Guaranteed insanity. Enough said.
Blue GirlThis very French bar is reassuringly understated and a great alternative to the British-orientated après ski prevalent in Tignes Melting PotFriendly, warm and cosy haunt, specialising in vodka cocktails – great terrace in late afternoon. Cav du LacSomewhat of a Tignes institution. Varied music policy is responsible for ‘Oh Hey Baby (Ooh-Ah!)’ being strangled by many a ‘relaxed’ holiday-maker, returning home in the wee hours. Crowded HouseThis Val Claret ski-bum hangout stays open late (natch), and is the best place in which to drink if you want the insider track on Tignes (not to mention endless offers of unlicensed ski guiding, second hand kit and the inside track on what the local farmers say the weather’s going to do. Bespoke Apres & Events |
DJ's & BandsOne of the things that we do really well is throw a party in the mountains (Snowbombing & Winter Break are Outgoing events). Talk to us about what your group is after... as we have the relationships and contacts with many major acts and agencies. So whether it is a live band, DJ or club night your group are after - we have no problem helping to arrange this as either an extra element to your holiday (resort and numbers dependant) or as a promotional night in your city. |
Valley RallyThe Valley Rally is no doubt a student ski institution, one of the best days of your tour and one of the funniest days on the slopes for your group. Outgoing has run countless of them over the years - so be prepared for lots of stupidity, debauchery and a range of ridiculous challenges at the checkpoints all around the mountain! Fancy dress essential... |
Meal on the MountainOne of the highlights of every group ski holiday, the ‘Meal on the Mountain’ it's one the best opportunities to get your whole group together for one HUGE party and a whole lot of ‘Fromage’... These vary from resort to resort as we take over a restaurant on the mountain or in the village for a typically French fondue, with a typically student attitude – table dance anyone? |
Group Race DayFor some universities racing is a very important aspect, while for others it is more about having a laugh... Whatever your motivations Outgoing can organise this for you... It will always be with run professionally with experienced staff (traditionally we do this in conjunction with the resort ski school).
