Chances are in Amsterdam you might get a little hungry, for one reason or another. When you do, you may want to check out some of these.

Cannibale Royale

Meat, meat and more meat. If you like meat and want to unleash your inner caveman, this is the place to come. Also because this is liberal Amsterdam, if you want a salad here, that’s OK too. What’s more, you’ll find a brilliant selection of beer and wine to wash it down. It’s open till 3am weekdays and 4am weekends too. Handy, because in this city hunger can strike at the strangest times.

Snappers

21 on the famous Reguliersdwarsstraat is where you’ll find Snappers, the coolest place for cold beers, cocktails and comfort food. You can go for the fancy stuff like quinoa salad with figs, blue cheese and bacon; the fearsome big eats like Iron’s ribs and badass burgers or, if you’re after a comfort food with the taste of home, the familiar English Fish ‘n’ Chips is a winner.

Wok to Walk

This is Wok to Walk’s flagship outlet and you’re guaranteed to love it. Fast food that’s healthy and really tasty. Place your order and it’s cooked on the spot in five minutes for you to eat in or eat on the go. Great when you can’t wait. It’s also in Leidsestraat, which is a bit of a culinary wasteland - so if you find yourself there it will be a welcome sight.

Maoz

Maoz is now an international chain. But this is where it all started and we think they still serve the finest falafels in the city. However there’s five of them in total, so you’ll never be that far from one. It’s also a chance to at least try and do something healthy while you’re here.

Stach

Stach is worth knowing. There’s one on Van Wouwstraat, three in the city centre and one to the west. It’s a deli that does the most amazing sandwiches, pizzas and food to go. If you fancy a picnic in the park, try ordering a "borrelmand".
